Welding Unit Blamed In Garage Fire

A Falconer garage that was destroyed in a fire over the weekend has been determined to be accidental. On Saturday around 5 p.m., the Falconer Fire Department and several mutual aid departments responded to 230 Lister Ave for a garage fire. After extinguishing the fire, the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene to conduct an origin and cause fire investigation. Investigators were able to determine that the fire was caused by the use of a welding unit in close proximity to other combustible materials. One subject was transported to UPMC Chautauqua for minor injuries caused by smoke exposure.
