A historic mansion in the southern end of the county has a new owner.

The Post-Journal and OBSERVER have been analyzing real estate sales in Chautauqua County and recently looked at the transactions from July 17-23.

During this time period Green Farm Properties, LLC sold 3 W. Terrace Ave., Lakewood for $1,150,000.

That is the address of Green Farm, which was previously known as the Paul Sorg Mansion. According to Green Farm’s website, this nearly 10,000 square foot eight-bedroom home was built by millionaire banking and tobacco heir Paul Sorg in 1906.

The Lakewood Historic Committee placed a Historical Marker there in 2013 with a picture of Sorg and how he named the mansion “Bide-A-Bit” when it was first constructed.

In a separate sale, 216-218 Lake Shore Drive West, Dunkirk was sold for $265,000. That appears to be a residence and the location of a former detail shop, Newer Image. The business’ last Facebook post was made in 2019.

Including the sales previously mentioned, from July 17-23 there were 14 sales that were $250,000 or higher. The remaining top sales are as follows:

– 50 Sabin Ave., Jamestown sold for $265,000.

– 16 Glenwood Ave., Lakewood sold for $261,000.
