Poland Solar Project Receives Tax Incentives

Another solar project has been approved for tax incentives.

During the Chautauqua County Industrial Development meeting, the Board of Directors approved various Payment In Lieu of Taxes agreements for a 2.25 megawatts solar project to be constructed on 14 acres of land on Route 394 in the town of Poland.

The property is not far from Stone Road and is located in the Falconer School District.

The county IDA started the process of investigating the tax incentives following its July meeting after the Board of Directors approved a due diligence resolution.

Rosemarie Strandburg with the county IDA said the project will cost $3.6 million to construct.

She said the Poland Town Board has given its support for the project.

Poland was the lead agency for the environmental review of the project, which determined there would be “no significant adverse effect on the environment,” and as such issued a negative declaration.

Chautauqua CSG1, LLC, is the developer. Ty Baccile with New Energy Equity, which is the owner of the LLC said in July this would be their second solar project in the county. They built a small solar project in Ripley, which has since been sold.

Baccile said as part of their Special Use Permit, they submitted both a screening plan and the decommissioning plan, which was required before they could get a building permit.

They hope to have the project up and running by the end of 2026.

The county IDA has approved tax incentives for about three dozen solar projects over the last five years, although not all have come to fruition.

This is the fourth solar project approved by the county IDA Board of Directors this year. There were a pair of solar projects approved in Busti and one in Pomfret.

Starting at $3.50/week.
