JPS Appoints New Washington MS Assistant Principal

Jenny Tilaro
Jamestown Public Schools will welcome a new assistant principal to Washington Middle School.
The Board of Education approved the appointment of Jenny Tilaro during its Aug. 26 meeting. Tilaro fills the position vacated by Tim Anderson, who became Washington’s building principal on July 1.
“We are excited to welcome Mrs. Tilaro to Jamestown Public Schools,” said Tina Sandstrom, Jamestown Public Schools assistant superintendent for instruction and school improvement. “Her dedication to student success and professional development has been evident throughout her career, and we are eager to see the positive contributions she will bring to Washington Middle School.”
Tilaro has served as the assistant principal at Erie High School in Erie, Pa. since 2023. Prior to joining Erie High School, she served as a high school science teacher at Allegany-Limestone Middle High School and spent two years as staff development specialist at Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES. She has also held administrative roles at Northern Chautauqua Catholic School and Randolph Central School. She began her career teaching science at Southwestern Central School before serving at Bemus Point Central School District. Tilaro also served as a New York State Master Teacher through SUNY Buffalo State from 2014 to 2016 and again in 2023, where she facilitated STEM professional development.
“Working at Washington Middle School would mean the opportunity to serve in a school where building meaningful relationships with a diverse student body will be central to my daily practice,” Tilaro said. “It would allow me to contribute to a school community while supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally, ensuring they feel valued and capable of success every day. For me, it will be an honor to be part of a team committed to equity, inclusivity, and preparing students for their future.”
Tilaro received her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Fredonia, her master’s degree from the University at Buffalo, and her educational leadership masters from Stony Brook University, where she obtained her school building and school district leader certifications. She resides in Lakewood with her husband Robert, owner of Tilaro’s Bakery, and her sons Sebastian and Gabriel.
