CLYMER — Just in time for fall and the annual harvest season, a Harvest Festival is set to be held in Clymer this weekend for the first time.
The Harvest Market will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Clymer Town Park, behind the Clymer Rural Health Clinic. The market will offer a curated outdoor experience with local vendors, family-friendly programming, and community connection at its core.
Organized by Clymer Events in collaboration with Sweeterson Farms, the market aims to spotlight the area’s small businesses, nonprofit organizations, and artisan entrepreneurs, all against the backdrop of early fall in Western New York.
A member of Clymer Events and one of the event organizers, Levi Swanson, said they wanted to do something around the Harvest time for the town of Clymer similar to other events being done in the local area such as Findley Lake, as there has never been a similar event in the town before.
“We wanted to showcase Clymer and all that it has to offer, not just for residents, but for families, business owners, and people passing through,” Swanson said. “Our goal was to create a curated market that brings together passionate local vendors, small businesses, and nonprofits in one thoughtful space. More than anything, we just hope people enjoy a beautiful fall day, get to know some incredible entrepreneurs, and feel that warmth and charm Clymer is known for. It’s a celebration of the season and of the community.”
Swanson said the idea was to do something focused and curated, and that they asked vendors to have a specific style for their booth that was something intentional and not necessarily something seen at other farmers and flea markets. Vendors at the event will feature a range of goods, including sourdough bread, maple syrup, hand curated kitchenware, home goods, and seasonal crafts. The event will also feature food trucks, live music, and children’s activities. Local nonprofits including the Clymer French Creek Library and Clymer Tulip Festival will also participate, offering interactive booths and fall-themed activities. Specifically, the library will be hosting a Frisbee Toss Fundraiser, for people to test their skills and see if they can get a frisbee onto an inner tube in Clymer Pond for a prize.
Other activities include a raffle, the Clymer Central School food truck, and the Clymer FBLA will be doing snowcones.
“It will have food, family-friendly fun, and will let you get your holiday shopping done early, because that is coming up sooner than you may think,” Swanson said.
With other towns in the area doing something similar but with Clymer having their main similar event being the Tulip Festival held every other year, and Christmas in Clymer, Swanson said the group wanted to do something to attract people to the town during the end of the summer tourist season in Chautauqua County. Additionally, he said the plan is to make it a yearly event.
“We want people to come out and see what we have in Clymer,” Swanson said. “Clymer is a hidden gem and it’s a bit of a drive to get here, but worth it when you do.”
Swanson said the event is also looking to showcase the local businesses Clymer has to offer, such as the Dutch Village Restaurant, Neckers Company General Store, and Clymer Hardware. He invited everyone to come out, visit these places, and then come to the park for the Harvest Market to enjoy a fall day as the leaves start to turn.
“I love everything about Clymer and every day it impresses me,” Swanson said. “I want people to know it is a great place to live, shop and work.”
