CCHS Pet Expo Is More Than Dogs, Cats

While the Chautauqua County Humane Society largely helps dogs and cats, the 2025 CCHS Pet Expo will include a lot more than canines and felines.

The expo, presented by Jamestown Container Companies, takes place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Northwest Arena in Jamestown. Tickets are $10.

Expo organizers want to focus both on the animals that the Chautauqua County Humane Society helps but also animals that need help from kind-hearted rescuers throughout the year.

“We are so excited to offer some very special wildlife seminars at CCHS Pet Expo ’25,” said Brian Papalia, CCHS director of fundraising and communication.

Local wildlife rescuer Payge Olson will be having discussions with Sandra Emke of TSE Wildlife and Chris Ducket of Wild Creatures. Discussions will focus on the work done by the organizations and the range of wild and exotic animals in the region that rely on the organizations. Additionally, Ducket will be hosting programs showing off some of the exotic animals in the care of Wild Creatures.

Along with the wildlife and exotic animal representation there will also be a spotlight on horse and barnyard animals,

“We have Neigh – the National Equine Institute of Growth Through Healing, Inc, Nola’s Angels and Horse Rescue, and Centaur Stride,” Papalia said. “These organizations do a lot of magnificent work in our county, educating the public about care, provide rescue and rehabbing, and therapeutic services.”

Neigh will have horses and goats visiting the Northwest Arena for the expo.

“We do want to stress that this is a pet friendly event,” Papalia said. “We ask that any visiting dogs are comfortable in a busy environment, and any cats are secured in a cat backpack with leash or harness. We ask any pets visiting be up to date on vaccinations.”

Media sponsors are The Post-Journal and Media One Radio Group while sponsors include Subaru Loves Pets through the Shults Auto Group and Jamestown Container Companies. Support from the KC Venezie Charitable Foundation, Supportive Divorce Solutions, Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union, Kinetic by Windstream, and Casella has also been received.
