Jamestown Man Sentenced To Prison In Cocaine Case

BUFFALO – Omar Marrero, 39, of Jamestown, who was convicted of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and violation of supervised release, was sentenced to serve 36 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua A. Violanti, who is handling the case, stated that in November 2023, investigators conducted two controlled purchases of cocaine from Marrero in Jamestown. He utilized an English Street residence to conduct his drug trafficking activities. On Dec. 13, 2023, a search warrant and federal probation warrant were executed at a Crescent Street residence, during which $686 in cash, an iPhone, and 42 grams of cocaine were seized. Also on Dec. 13, 2023, search warrant at the English Street residence. Investigators seized $2,267 in cash, 168 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Marrero, who was on supervised release for a prior federal conviction, was taken into custody.

The effort is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces operation. OCDETF identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach. The sentencing is the culmination of investigations by the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Frank A. Tarentino III, New York Field Division, the Jamestown Police Department, under the direction of Chief Timothy Jackson, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff James B. Quattrone.
