On Saturday, Aug. 30, the CassadagaMan race begins at 8 a.m. with a 1.2 mile swim around Cassadaga Lake, followed by a 56-mile bike ride through the hills of Chautauqua County and then a 13.1-mile run with a few more hills. Register or volunteer at www.coachmarkwilson.com.

On Sunday, Aug. 31, at noon, there will be a chicken barbecue (takeout only) at American Legion Post 1280 at 228 Maple Ave. From 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Fred Farms will be at the Farmers’ Market in Ames Common on the corner of Route 60 and Maple Avenue as well as other vendors.

At 4:15 p.m., participants for the boat parade will congregate near the DEC Launch on Dale Drive on the Middle Lake. The theme is “Storybook Characters.” Anyone in a floating vessel is invited to participate. There will be prizes as well. The parade will head out at 4:30 p.m. and travel through the Middle Lake to the Lower Lake, ending up at Cassadaga Beach for the 5 p.m. free concert on the Floating Stage featuring Smilo and the Ghost.

On Monday, Sept. 1, at 11 a.m., there will be a parade with bands, marching units and firetrucks. The parade will begin at the west side of Maple Avenue and proceed to the east side of Maple Avenue.

The Bicycle/Walk/Run Dice Run begins at Cassadaga Beach at 1:30 p.m. Those participating can choose their means of travel and either bike around the lake (3.1 miles) or walk/run a shorter distance. Roll the dice at multiple stations and end up back at the beach for cash prizes and refreshments. Entry fees are $2 for children and $5 for adults ages 18 and over.
