CLYMER — Families in the Clymer area will have a chance for their kids to participate in a week-long summer day camp this summer, focused on STEM and known as Camp Invention.
Camp Invention is a nationally recognized, week-long summer day camp where “creativity and curiosity come to life” according to the Clymer camp director, Stacey Kerr. Designed by Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, this hands-on STEM camp is led by qualified local educators and filled with engaging activities aimed at sparking creativity, building confidence, and fostering a lifelong love of learning. This summer’s all-new program, Discover, invites students to dive into imaginative challenges and collaborative problem-solving. Throughout the week, campers will work together to build and create four exciting STEM projects, each designed to inspire innovation and encourage exploration.
“I decided to bring Camp Invention to Clymer after seeing the incredible success another school had with the program,” Kerr said. “It was inspiring to see how engaged the students were, and how much they gained from the hands-on STEM activities. I thought it would be a great opportunity for our own students to experience that same excitement — to explore their creativity, build their confidence, and strengthen their problem-solving skills in a fun, supportive environment.”
Additionally, Kerr said that Camp Invention is more than just a summer camp, but it is also a chance for students to think like inventors, work together as a team and discover the joy of innovation, including that she is excited to see how it will inspire students in Clymer.
This year’s program, Discover, will run July 14 to 18 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Clymer Central School, with a discounted rate for all Clymer students thanks to support from the district.
Kerr said that families should also expect their students to be “fully engaged and excited about learning”.
“Throughout the week, campers will dive into hands-on STEM activities where they’ll explore, build, and create four amazing projects — each one designed to spark curiosity and problem-solving skills,” Kerr said. “By the end of the week, students will not only take home their unique creations, but also a sense of accomplishment, new friendships, and a greater confidence in their ability to innovate and collaborate. Camp Invention is where learning meets fun, and where big ideas begin.”
Families should be interested in having their kids attend as it allows them to dive into hands-on STEM experiences meant to help them “spark joy, ignite curiosity and build essential life skills.” Campers are given the chance to team up with friends, tackle real-world challenges and bring their ideas to life through four take-home projects.
“It’s a one-of-a-kind experience where innovation meets imagination, and where every child can shine,” Kerr said. “Camp Invention is a nationally recognized STEM program inspired by the real-world innovations of National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees. It offers students a unique opportunity to explore creativity, innovation, and problem-solving in a fun, hands-on environment.”
Openings are still available for this year’s camp, and Kerr encouraged parents to register their child today to secure a spot. For more information, costs, or to ask questions, Kerr can be reached at skerr@clymercsd.org. More information on the Camp Invention program can be found at invent.org/programs/camp-invention.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for students to explore STEM in a fun, engaging way and take home projects they’ll be proud of,” Kerr said. “Scholarships are available for families in need. Give your child a summer they’ll never forget, full of creativity, collaboration, and discovery.”
