The Jamestown Tarp Skunks will host a kids’ camp on June 21 at Russell E. Diethrick Jr. Park, 485 Falconer St., for children aged 5 to 14 years old, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“This is our second year of running a kids camp,” said the Tarp Skunks’ General Manager Chrisitan Dolce. “This is a chance for upcoming ball players to learn from some of the best collegiate baseball players.”
Dolce said that program participants will engage in running drills, cover baseball throwing techniques, batting drills, and other baseball-related techniques.
“Last year, we had 121 kids at our first camp; we’re going to put a cap on attendance this year at 130,” he said.
Dolce said that those who register for the camp before June 13 will receive a complimentary T-shirt. Participants in the program will benefit from instruction by high-level players, enjoy lunch, and take part in an autograph session following the camp. Additionally, they will receive a free ticket to Tarp Skunks game later that night.

The camp is sponsored by CASA-Trinity, Prevention Works, Universal Healthcare, and the Southern Tier Builders Exchange. For more information, visit the Tarp Skunks website at jamestowntarpskunks.com or call 716-705-5600.
“It’s all about giving back to our community, providing a high quality, low-cost baseball experience for our fan base,” Dolce said. “We’re always trying to look for new and innovative programming to have our team involved within the community. The guys really seem to like doing events like this.”
