New Principals Appointed At Love, Washington

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education has approved the appointments of Michael Brown to serve as the next principal of S.G. Love Elementary School and Tim Anderson to serve as the next principal of Washington Middle School.
Brown has served as the Principal of Teaching and Learning for Dunkirk Secondary School since August 2024. Prior to that, he spent eight years as an administrator in the Tonawanda City School District, serving a year as assistant principal and the subsequent five years as the principal of Tonawanda High School and then from 2022 to 2024 as principal of Tonawanda Middle School.
“We are pleased to welcome Mr. Brown to Jamestown Public Schools,” said Dr. Kevin Whitaker, district superintendent. “Throughout the search process, it became evident that he is a collaborative and energetic leader with a wide range of experience. His enthusiasm for education and collaboration as well as his belief in the potential of every student aligns perfectly with our district culture. We believe he will be a great fit at Love School.”
Brown began his career as a high school social studies teacher at Pavilion Central School in Genesee County, before being promoted to middle and high school assistant principal. He also served as director of curriculum and instruction at the Cattaraugus/Little Valley School District in Cattaraugus County.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Brown to Love Elementary School,” said Tina Sandstrom, assistant superintendent for instruction and school improvement. “He brings with him a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to instructional leadership, and positive energy that we believe will be a great fit for our students and families at Love School. We are excited to welcome him to the Jamestown team.”
A native of Panama, he earned his bachelor’s degree in social studies education from the State University at Geneseo and his master’s degree and advanced certificate in administration from the University at Buffalo. He resides in Lakewood with his wife Marcie and two sons, Mason and Max.
“I am absolutely thrilled and excited to be named the new elementary principal at Love Elementary School,” Brown said. “I can’t wait to start working alongside the incredible teachers, staff, students and families in this tremendous school and dynamic learning community. I am ready to get started and begin making a positive impact starting day one, fostering an environment where every child is learning every day.”
A Jamestown native and 2002 Jamestown High School graduate, Anderson has spent 17 years in the district, serving as a second grade teacher at the former Rogers Elementary School, a fifth and sixth-grade teacher at Persell Middle School, and a fourth grade teacher at C.C. Ring Elementary School before becoming Washington’s assistant principal in the fall of 2024.
“I am pleased to announce Mr. Anderson’s promotion to Principal of Washington Middle School,” added Whitaker. “Over the past year, he has provided collaborative leadership and a clear commitment to student success. His consistency, professionalism, and dedication have made a positive impact, and we are confident he will continue to lead the school community with purpose and care.”
Anderson holds a bachelor’s from the State University at Fredonia, a master’s from Walden University, and received his administrative degrees from State University at Fredonia.
“I am honored to serve as the next principal of Washington Middle School,” said Anderson. “As a lifelong Jamestown resident, I care deeply about this community and believe strongly in the potential of our students. Washington is a special place, and I look forward to continuing to support our students’ growth — academically, socially, and emotionally — as we work together to create meaningful and lasting progress.”
Anderson has also coached basketball for the last 19 years, most notably as the head coach of the JHS girls varsity basketball program and most recently coaching the Jefferson Middle School boys basketball team. He resides in the city with his wife Rachel and his children Raegan, Sawyer, Asher, and Hudson.
“I have been blessed with the best family who has always encouraged me every step of the way in my educational career,” Anderson added. “I also couldn’t have gotten to this position without the love and unwavering support, patience, and motivation of my wife Rachel and four children, who have always pushed me to be the best version of myself.”
