Early Voting For Primary Begins Saturday

The Robert H. Jackson Center will be the only location in Chautauqua County for early voting for this year’s primary. Early voting begins Saturday.
Select voters in three municipalities in Chautauqua County will be headed to the polls this month.
All Democratic party members in the Village of Fredonia, Republican party members in the Town of Carroll, and Conservative party members in the Town of Portland will be eligible to vote in the June 24 Primary Election.
FREDONIA – LeeAnn Lazarony, Chris Cruz Keefe and Michelle Twichell are all running for the Democratic line for village trustee. The top two candidates will be listed on the ballot in November. Lazarony and Cruz Keefe both have the Working Families line. There are no endorsed Republican candidates for November.
CARROLL – Terry Eckman and Michael Walker are running for the Republican line for town highway superintendent. Eckman already has the Conservative line. Chad Allison has the Democratic line for the November election.
PORTLAND – Richard Lewis Jr. and Edward Bellandro are running for the Conservative line for town supervisor. Lewis has the Republican line. There are no endorsed Democratic candidates for November.
“All other party members or voters without a designated party are not eligible to vote in this Primary Election,” noted county Republican Election Commissioner Nacole Ellis.
The deadline for a voter who is not registered in Chautauqua County to register for the June 24 primary election is Saturday, June 14.
The Chautauqua County Board of Elections will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for anyone who wants to register. Per New York State election law, voters who are already registered needed to change their political party affiliation by Feb. 14 to be eligible to vote in this Primary Election.
The Chautauqua County Board of Elections has designated one early voting poll site for the primary election. Early voting will be held at the Robert H. Jackson Center, 305 E. Fourth St., Jamestown. Voters should enter through the main doors off of Prendergast Avenue.
Early voting starts on Saturday, June 14, and continues through Sunday, June 22. Early voting will not be held on Monday, June 23. The times for early voting are as follows: Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Voters who cast their ballot early will not be able to cast a ballot during subsequent early voting days or on Election Day. Those who request an early mail or absentee ballot, due to recent law changes, will be prevented from casting a ballot using the voting machine during early voting or on Election Day. Those voters will only be able to vote using a Provisional Affidavit Ballot, which can be counted if the voter has not already returned a ballot.
Sample Ballots are available to view at www.votechautauqua.com and will also be available at the Robert H. Jackson Center site during early voting.
