For the past few years, Conduit Ministries has operated a food truck in Brooklyn Square on Sunday afternoons for the hungry and homeless, along with anyone who comes by.
As the summer approaches, the food truck is preparing to help kids out of school get meals in the summer, even while already setting a record breaking amount of meals served May 25.
Pastor Cameron Lienhart said that their mission with the food truck every Sunday afternoon is to provide a hot meal to anyone who wants it, regardless of income or their personal situation. While last Sunday they had prepared food for 350 people, they saw many more come to the food truck that day.
“What we saw on Sunday was a miracle,” Lienhart said. “We believe that God miraculously provided for the needs of the community over and beyond our own capacity. This was a work of God. It was a modern-day fish and loaves miracle.”
Lienhart added that Conduit Ministries has no interest in setting records, only looking for ways to love the community in more extravagant and holistic ways. One such way is providing meals for kids in the summer, especially Lienhart said as many rely on the meals they get at school.
“We do recognize that children in the city of Jamestown often rely on meals at schools,” Lienhart said. “There are many great organizations in the city that seek to bridge that gap in the summer, and we plan to help with that need by serving a hot meal one evening a week at Jackson-Taylor Park during the months of July and August.”
Lienhart said that while Conduit Ministries themselves does not look for any recognition, they hope that through what they do people will learn about Jesus and his love.
“What we hope people come to know is that there is a God that loves them and a church that desires to embody the work, life, and ministry of Jesus in Jamestown,” Lienhart said.
The Conduit Ministries church is located at 120 Delaware Avenue, and their food truck provides hot meals in Brooklyn Square from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Sunday.
