JCC Sees Interest In Dunkirk Campus

The North County campus for Jamestown Community College is for sale.

Jamestown Community College’s Buildings and Grounds Committee members briefly discussed the Dunkirk campus on Route 60, which is closing, during a recent meeting.

JCC President Dr. Daniel DeMarte told members that the property is listed for sale, and he added JCC is currently working with a Buffalo-based real estate agent. DeMarte added last week it makes sense to keep the training center and adjoining parcels, but as a second option, a potential buyer can purchase the whole property.

“We have three interested parties, is what I’m hearing,” DeMarte said.

JCC currently offers workforce development programs at its North County Center on Route 60 in the town of Dunkirk.

The college had been considering a project to renovate the Graf Building on Central Avenue through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative to house a workforce training center that would have possibly included childcare, offices for program partners, a career counseling center, a science lab, new classrooms, and computer labs. College officials would only have pursued that project if there were no new costs for the move, local business support, adequate available transportation and childcare, an enrollment target, and additional external funding.

“Prior to, during, and after the announcement, we have gathered data and analyzed every angle of the move, resulting in the submittal of our recommendation to not proceed,” DeMarte continued in a letter announcing the abandonment of the Graf Building project late in 2024.

Starting at $3.50/week.
