Randolph Gathering In The Barn Is Saturday
RANDOLPH – The third annual Gathering in the Barn will take place Saturday at 6 p.m. in a barn built in the 1800s on the Randolph property of Harry and Cathy Uhl.
The community is invited to the free event.
A variety of soups, breads, desserts and a beverage will be served to guests while they listen to small groups and solo performers playing and singing upbeat praise and patriotic music. Brief inspirational messages will be given by various speakers. The event will take place, rain or shine. The 2023 gathering brought 100 people despite poor weather, though several people reported seeing a rainbow while traveling to the event. As they approached their destination, they noticed the rainbow had ended over the barn, like it was the pot of gold.
The first gathering took place during the summer of 2022 when the Uhls wanted to use their barn to uplift people and glorify God following two years of COVID-19 quarantines and closings. Even though the first two years of this event were very well received, the couple didn’t see the possibility of it taking place this year due to two grandchildren graduating, their own 50th wedding anniversary celebration and several other commitments and events.
They were never comfortable about canceling the evening where guests from local and surrounding communities were brought together. As the summer wore on, more and more people began to inquire about the 2024 gathering. Because of this, and because their friends were willing to help sweep and clean the barn, cook, serve, sing and play music and do whatever else it took to pull the event off, the hosts are making last-minute plans to host the gathering.
The barn is located at 2467 Vollentine Road in Randolph. Seating is limited, so bring a chair, if possible.
