Homeless Man Charged In City Blaze
A homeless man is accused of intentionally starting a house fire in the city of Jamestown.
According to the Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt, Eric Courtier, 34, was arraigned Thursday after he was indicted by a Chautauqua County Grand Jury of first-degree arson, a class A-1 violent felony, and second-degree arson in the Second Degree, a class B violent felony.
It is alleged that on May 19, Courtier started a fire at 234 Fulton St. and caused serious injuries to another homeless person, who was sleeping upstairs.
There was significant damage to the building, a condemned house that was under the authority of the Jamestown Department of Development.
This case is scheduled for a conference on Monday in Chautauqua County Court. Schmidt would like to thank the Jamestown Police Department for their work on this case.
