A Celoron, N.Y. man faces charges including rape of a child in connection with a slate of charges filed by City of Warren police.

Darren W. Campbell, 39, 66 Dunham Ave., Apt. 2, was charged on July 25.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were contacted by Children and Youth Services in early June with a report of abuse.

An interview with the victim was held on June 27 at the Children’s Advocacy Center.

The victim reported that the abuse began when she was six or seven while the conduct that underpins the rape charge allegedly occurred when she was 11.

Police say in the affidavit that attempts were made without success to locate and interview the defendant.

Charges include rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, three counts of aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault, corruption of minors, two counts of indecent assault, terroristic threats and other charges.

Online court records show that Campbell was placed in the county jail on July 26 and that a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 7.
