Funicello Family Reunion Held
FALCONER – The biennial Funicello Reunion was held on Sunday, Aug. 4, at Falconer Park.
There were more than 60 descendants of Carlos and Rosa (Bertolino) Funicello of Ellington attending.
A potluck picnic was held. Pages of the family tree were laid out on the tables so people could update their family information. Many family members live in the Chautauqua County area, but several traveled from California, Maine, Manhattan, Virginia and Saskatchewan for the opportunity to reconnect with family.
Veterans Club Plans Chicken Barbecue
The bar will be open and the public is welcomed to eat in or take out as ILS Veterans Club volunteers serve their final Chicken Barbecue of the summer on Sunday. Located on Fluvanna Avenue next to Arby’s, dinners will be available from noon to 3:30 p.m. or until sellout and include a half chicken, applesauce, and a roll plus a choice of roasted potatoes, macaroni salad, or baked beans. The cost for a full dinner is $14; chicken only is $11. Proceeds support service programs sponsored by the Sons of AMVETs and the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary.
Sinclairville Library To Host Adventures In
Art Programs
SINCLAIRVILLE – Adventures in Art with Brenda Nickerson at the Sinclairville Free Library will be held Mondays, Aug. 12 and Aug. 26, at 6 p.m. The free program is for ages six and up. Children will learn different art techniques (pencils, dry watercolor, flower pressing/leaf pounding, decoupage, etc.) to create a nature journal. All materials will be provided through support by the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System and the Ross Grange.

Present End Of Summer Bash
The Infinity Visual and Performing Arts program will present its End of Summer Bash from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at the James Prendergast Library. There will be continuous music on the front lawn and live visual chalk art. Details are available at infinityperformingarts.org/event/end-of-year-bash. The partnership program is paid for through the Murray L. Bob Community Education Initiative.
Leon To Hold Town Picnic
Aug. 17
LEON – The annual Leon Town Picnic will be held starting at 1 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Leon Fire Hall. The event is open to all Leon fire district residents, past and present. The picnic is sponsored by the Leon Fire Commissioners in conjunction with the Leon Town Board, the Historical Society and the Leon Fire Company, 1 Inc. and auxiliary. There will be barbecue chicken, hot dogs, condiments, paper products and non-alcoholic drinks provided free of charge. Event attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to pass. Fire equipment will be on display, a gift/basket raffle will be held along with 50/50’s giveaways, games for adults and children, Penny Royal displays, historical displays and music. The event is an old-fashioned picnic that provides the opportunity to meet new neighbors, reconnect with old neighbors/friends, and reminisce.
