HARMONY — The town of Harmony has begun planning for the future when it comes to potential food vendors in the town park.

Discussion was held at the most recent board meeting in regards to allowing vendors to set up in the park if they have the required proof of insurance and a permit for the season. Town Supervisor John Brown said this topic came up because of an ice cream truck.

“We have been having ball games in the park and there will be some more for a few more weeks,” Brown said. “We have had an ice cream truck that has come to a few. So, this is something we are doing now to plan for the future as this hasn’t come up in the past.”

While Brown said he expected food vendors to be in the park mostly during ball games, the ability to set up with a permit is open to anyone in the town. This is the first time it has come up for the town, and as of right now vendors can get one permit for the summer season at no cost.

“This is the first time it has come up, so we wanted to be in front of it,” Brown said. “We are offering it for free, because it helps the townspeople. Permits will be set to continue to let this happen in the future.”

Town Clerk, Amy Ecker, will come up with an agreement for any food vendors to sign. All board members were in agreement at the meeting, with the possibility to revisit at a later time.

Starting at $2.99/week.
