Randolph Central School Increasing Cafeteria Prices
RANDOLPH — Charging a little more for school lunches will allow more students in the Randolph Central School district to receive free and reduced lunches. School board members recently increased the prices of cafeteria offerings in order to comply with state regulations. “The Randolph Central School District has adjusted their lunch prices in order to continue receiving aid as a direct certified free and reduced lunch provider,” Superintendent Kaine Kelly said. “This adjustment ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, which mandate that school districts maintain certain price levels to qualify for financial assistance.” Prices for all meals are set to increase by 10 cents each. Breakfast will increase from $1.60 to $1.70, lunch for elementary students will increase from $2.15 to $2.25 and lunch for high school students will increase from $2.25 to $2.35. Kelly said the increase is to help ensure the ability to provide students who qualify with free and reduced price meals in the future. This aid is something he said is important for all students at the school. “By meeting these requirements, the district can secure the necessary funding to support its lunch program, ensuring that students who qualify for free and reduced-price meals can continue to receive nutritious meals at school,” Kelly said. “This aid is crucial for maintaining the program’s sustainability and for providing equitable access to healthy food for all students.”
