Filegar Cutting Technologies Building Sold

The building at 264 Crescent St., Jamestown, where Filegar Cutting Technologies was located, was sold in May.

A closed factory building in the city of Jamestown has been sold.

Filegar Cutting Technologies, LLC, located at 264 Crescent St. was purchased by 258 Crescent Street, LLC of Jamestown on May 16 for $61,000.

According to an April 5, 2005 article in The Post-Journal, Filegar Cutting Technologies, LLC was founded in 1957 by Forest Filegar to manufacture, service and sell saws and cutting tools to woodworking, plastic and non-ferrous metal industries in New York and Pennsylvania, mostly within a 150-mile radius of the Jamestown plant.

At that time it was being purchased by Neal F. Gustafson, who had joined the company in 2002.

In 2006, Gustafson told The Post-Journal the company had 12 employees.

It’s unclear exactly when Filegar Cutting Technologies shut down. The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce still lists them as a member.

The company’s website and phone number are no longer in operation. Its Facebook page is active but the last post was from 2013.

Hanging in the front window of the business is a sign that reads “Closed. We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused.”

A message left with the Jamestown Department of Development was not returned.

Starting at $3.50/week.
