Lakewood Man Charged With Weapons, Drug Possession
A traffic stop Wednesday resulted in drug and weapons charges filed against a Lakewood man.
According to a police report, Jamestown police officers and Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies were deployed on a Gun Involved Violence Elimination targeted patrol detail at 3:09 p.m. Tuesday when they pulled a vehicle over on Allen Street near King Street for a traffic violation. According to a police report, Jose L. Santiago, 31, of Lakewood was found with a loaded 9mm pistol that he can’t legally possess because of a prior felony conviction for a charge of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The prior conviction stemmed from a 2016 incident in which Santiago was found with a loaded handgun that had been stolen from Florida.
After Tuesday’s traffic stop, Santiago was taken to the city jail where officers allegedly found cocaine. Santiago was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance while also being cited for illegal window tint, unsafe tire and consumption of cannabis in a motor vehicle.
