MAYVILLE – A new community-based non-profit organization is taking over a pair of longstanding Mayville traditions – the Mayville Yard Sales and the Mayville Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market.

Inspire Good of WNY INC. is the brainchild of Ariel Cartwright of The Mayberry Jungle and Sorena Gilkinson of Handcrafted From the Heart. This new venture – Inspire Good of WNY, INC. – is a grassroots effort within the community to inspire good, give back, and promote positivity in the Mayville community.

Cartwright and. Gilkinson are working on a mission statement for this new organization. The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce’s Mayville Committee has approved spinning off the yard sales and farmers’ market to the new organization.

“As the chamber has refocused on our mission to build vital connections, provide professional resources, and champion local businesses in Chautauqua County, we are pleased to be able to transition this event to an organization that is truly focused on community building,” said Daniel Heitzenrater, chamber president and CEO.

Inspire Good of WNY, INC. is not making any changes to the yard sales event, which will be held Memorial Day Weekend. Registrations are being accepted through May 19 and all who register will be included on the yard sale map.

The Mayville Farmers’ & Artisans’ Market hours will be Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a starting date to be announced.

Proceeds from both events will be returned to the community through scholarships, sponsorships, and more. Gilkinson and Cartwright recently discussed their new organization with The Post-Journal. The business owners said they are looking to collaborate with local businesses and are open to vendors of all sorts. They are also hoping to collaborate with businesses and organizations for other events they will be doing. This can mean sponsoring events or needed items, helping fund the scholarship fund or collaborating with them and the cross-market.

“We are hoping to continue inspiring others to do good, get outside and into the community, and give back,” Gilkinson said. “Every penny that is donated will come back into our community and we are looking forward to working within the community in this capacity and growing our organization.”
