Lakewood Women’s Club Hears From Literacy Volunteers Of Chautauqua County

LAKEWOOD – Julie Lagrow, executive director of Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County, spoke to a full house at the April 23 meeting of the Women’s Club of Lakewood. Volunteers for the program are trained to help adults 18 years of age and older read, write, and speak English. Lagrow shared stories of various individuals and how their success in learning English helped them. Several Women’s Club of Lakewood members volunteer with Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County. Those interested in volunteering can call 716-366-4438. The largest need for volunteers at this time is in the Jamestown area and its surrounding communities. Lakewood village residents with a 14750 ZIP code are eligible to join the Women’s Club of Lakewood. For more information on the club or how to join, contact membership chair Becky Danielson at 717-763-5711 or message the group through the public Facebook page at Lakewood Women’s Club.
