Lakewood Farmers’ Market Returns To Chautauqua Avenue

LAKEWOOD — A farmers’ market may attract people looking for specific items or people who are “just looking.”

Recently, the Lakewood Village Board of Trustees learned that the Lakewood Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market will move back to Chautauqua Avenue.

In 2023, the Lakewood Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market was located on Fairmount Avenue next to the Rock Church and opposite the Lakewood Post Office. In 2022, the market was located on Chautauqua Avenue.

Mayor Randy Holcomb thanked Taryn Wilson for her work with making sure the market is run smoothly and efficiently.

“We’re glad you are here,” Holcomb said at a recent board meeting.

MARKET OPERATIONS

— The 2024 Lakewood NY Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market season will operate every Thursday 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. from June 20 until Sept. 5 on Chautauqua Ave between Summit Street and Alta Way.

— The market is open to all approved farms, bakeries, wineries, breweries, artists, crafters, non-profit organizations, relevant local businesses and local restaurateurs/caterers.

— All vendors must be ready to sell by 9:30 a.m. Vendors may set up between 8 a.m and 9:30 a.m at the discretion of the vendor. It is the responsibility of the vendor to arrive on time to provide ample setup time.

— It is mandatory all vendors stay until the Market closes at 2 pm, unless all products have been sold or early departure has been approved by the Lakewood NY Farmers’ and

Artisans’ Market Committee (LFAMC).

— Vendors are not permitted to sell products after 2 p.m. and should not occupy their space no later than 1-hour post Market closure.

— Vendors are required to notify the LFAMC no later than 12 p.m. on Wednesday of their intended absence at the Market, excluding absence due to emergency situations.

— All persons working for vendors must be informed of their products as well as all Market rules and regulations. Vendors are responsible for violations or resolving issues that may occur in their absence.

— Smoking within market boundaries and/or use of alcohol or illegal drugs is prohibited.

— The market will only close the market due to weather when dangerous public conditions occur. An example would be a thunderstorm/with lightning.

“Last year was my first experience at the Lakewood Farmers’ Market and it was definitely a positive one,” said vendor Kristin Johnson who owns The Sepia Leaf. “I am looking forward to participating again this year at the Chautauqua Avenue site with my new brand, artwork, hand-made home decor and jewelry.”
