Strike up the band! And in this case, select several Jamestown High School members for the “All-County Band.”

The members of the high school bands performed Saturday for several hundred people at the Merton P. Corwin Auditorium at the high school.

However, while the wonderfully performed music pieces perforated throughout the auditorium, it’s what the director of bands announced next that added to the harmonic melodies floating about and amped up the listeners’ enjoyment levels.

“I am proud to announce that we have several musicians selected to play at the All-County,” said Meghan Murray, director of bands. “Including entire sections of our concert band.”

The crowd in attendance erupted in applause with a standing ovation.

“I think it is a great accomplishment that so many of the Jamestown students have been selected for the All-County Brass Ensemble. This is a testament to their hard work and dedication and to the district’s Music Department staff from JHS all the way down to the elementary schools,” said Frank Galeazzo, a JPS school board member, and father of one-half of JHS Marching Band Drum Major, Ashlyn Galeazzo.

The students selected by the Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association (CCMTA) for selection includes JHS Symphonic Band members: Trumpet One, Matthew Greenland; Horn, Hayden Langford and Spencer Hofgren; Tuba, Chase Maggio. JHS Concert Band members: Trumpet (entire section) Karlee Rock, Shamy Santiago, Ashlyann Santiago Guevara and Jason Leenders; Horn, (entire section) Brighton Lumia, Oliva Beech and Eddie Meyer; Trombone, McKenna Schinder, Braedan Lutgen; Euphonium, Keziah Sheriff; Tuba, Drew Sutter and Chase Maggio.

Starting at $3.50/week.
