‘It Means A Lot’ Annual Christmas In Clymer Event Set For This Weekend

CLYMER -- Christmas spirit will be alive and well this weekend as the town of Clymer prepares for the annual Christmas in Clymer event.
For over 50 years the Clymer Area Business Association has sponsored this event as a way for the businesses to give back to the community at the end of every year. The local businesses will have specials and deals starting on Friday Dec. 15, and the official Christmas in Clymer event will be on Saturday Dec. 16. Some business specials include; a pop up coffee shop and free gift wrapping at Clymer Hardware and Home Center, a Very Merry Barry Elf Game at Neckers Company General Store and a buy one get one free dessert special at the Dutch Village, along with many more.
On Saturday, Santa will be greeting children at Clymer Central School from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. At 7 p.m. the drawing at the school begins, which allows for children to get their own toy and for adults to win some prizes as well. Adult prizes include things like gift cards, breakfast items from Neckers Company and sweet rolls from the Dutch Village.
New this year, according to Clymer Area Business Association Secretary, Brittany Gerould, the event will end with fireworks at 8:30 p.m. Gerould said people can come and park in the school parking lot and should be able to see them from there.
Gerould encouraged the community to come out to the event.
"It's a really good community event," Gerould said. "It allows the businesses to give back to the community that has supported them throughout the year. There will be some really great adult and kids prizes."
Also happening throughout the month for the town is the Light Up Clymer Trail. Maps are available at the Dutch Village, Neckers Company or on Facebook, and people can drive around town and see all of the Christmas lights that have been put up this year. The trail officially continues until Dec. 31.
Gerould said the Christmas time events mean a lot to both the town and her.
"It means a lot to the town that the businesses have been able to put this event on for so long," Gerould said. "For me personally, it's something that I always enjoy. My kids love it. I'm not from Clymer so it brings me closer to the town and the businesses as well."
