CLYMER -- The main focus for Clymer Central School's December Board of Education meeting was the signing and filing of tax return claims.
Following the end of the tax return season, the board has responsibilities to officially file the taxes with the county.
"After the tax collection ends we have to report to the county what we've collected and what we have yet to collect, because that gets re-levied through them," Business Official Jarrett Wiggers said. "So this is just approving what was unpaid in each one of the towns."
Clymer's Board of Education is responsible for approving what was unpaid in the towns of Clymer, French Creek, Mina and Sherman.
For Clymer, the total of municipality unpaid taxes totaled $94,760.94. French Creek's total municipality unpaid taxes totaled $105,788.68 and for Mina the number added up to $162,575.08. The total school district unpaid taxes were $363,124.70. There is no unpaid number reported for the town of Sherman in the 2023 Tax Levy Report. Other totals can be seen through the BoardDocs service on Clymer Central School's website on the agenda for the Dec. 13 meeting.
The only other business for the board at the December meeting was the approval of Laurie Rohrer to the non-certified substitute list, effective Dec. 14.
