City Man Acquitted In Domestic Violence Case
MAYVILLE — A Jamestown man who had been jailed in a 2022 domestic violence case was acquitted of all charges following a weeklong trial in Chautauqua County Court.
Erick S. Blackwood-Head, 33, was found not guilty on all counts of the indictment, which included second-degree strangulation, second-degree burglary, first- and second-degree criminal contempt, third-degree assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The city resident was represented at trial by Heather Burley, Luwing Peche and Jake Hamann with the Chautauqua County Public Defender’s Office.
Amber Payne with the District Attorney’s Office prosecuted the case.
In November 2022, Jamestown police responded to the north side of the city for a reported domestic incident. A woman later told police that Blackwood-Head had allegedly choked her to the point of unconsciousness.
Jurors acquitted Blackwood-Head of all charges Monday. The trial was heard before County Court Judge David Foley.
