Lakewood Trustees Table Shared Services Pacts
LAKEWOOD – Lakewood Village Board members tabled a resolution this week to share law enforcement services with the town of Busti.
“I move that we table this until the December meeting,” Trustee Ellen Barnes said.
Barnes added that trustees need to look at the agreement more before making a decision.
Trustees also tabled a resolution, until December, between the village and town that provides a law enforcement officer to the town on a part-time basis to act as a court officer in Busti Town Court. Barnes also noted that trustees need to look at the agreement more before voting.
Mayor Randy Holcomb and Barnes said it is anticipated that Marilyn Fiore-Lehman will be hired as the new village attorney, and begin duties Jan. 1. Trustees will decide at the December meeting.
Current village attorney, John LaMancuso, was elected Jamestown City Court Judge, so he will be moving away from his duties with the village, and also his private practice as an attorney with the Lewis & Lewis Law Firm in the city.
As previously reported in The Post-Journal, Holcomb said LaMancuso has been an “exceptional” village attorney who has helped during the “difficult times” and was always available for the “little things” as well.
“We wish him the best of luck as judge in Jamestown,” Holcomb said.
Barnes said Fiore-Lehman previously was hired on a temporary basis to fill in as needed in preparation for LaMancuso being elected as he ran unopposed.
In other business, trustees approved the appointment of Krysten Sisson as the village deputy clerk; the appointment of Stephanie DePonceau as the village deputy treasurer; and the appointment of April Troutman as the village clerk/treasurer.
Trustees also approved Troutman, Sisson, Barnes, Trustee Nancy Jones, Trustee Ben Troche, Zoning Board Member Jack McCray, Zoning Board Chairman Gary Segrue, Zoning Board Member William Chandler, Zoning Board Member John Jablonski, Zoning Board Member Lou Drago, and Village Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer Jeff Swanson to attend Southern Tier West’s annual fall training at Jamestown Community College.
Trustees later approved the purchase of a bucket truck for the Department of Public Works. The truck will be shared with the town of Kiantone, and the town of Busti. The village’s cost is $10,000 with Busti and Kiantone also paying $10,000 each.
Trustees will meet next on Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m.
