JFD Crews Knock Down Morning House Fire

Jamestown firefighters extinguished a fire at an unoccupied residence at 49 Broadhead Ave.

Crews arrived at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to smoke showing from the building, Battalion Chief Shawn Shilling said.

Reports of smoke showing from another unoccupied adjacent building at 55 Broadhead Ave. was quickly taken care of, Shilling said, as crews used an extinguisher to douse flames.

Shilling said crews used a hydrant near 49 Broadhead Ave., and made entry to combat the second-story blaze. Within a half hour, firefighters extinguished the blaze of the condemned building.

Shilling said the building has been condemned for about a year.

No cause has been determined. Crews began leaving the scene at about 11:55 a.m.
