Falconer Company Makes Donations To Police Departments

A foundation established by a Falconer company continues to support local law enforcement.
Rand Machine Products, 2072 Allen St. Ext., recently made donations to the Ellicott and Jamestown police departments. The assistance comes from the employee-driven Rand Philanthropic Community Foundation that was set up a couple of years ago to boost area first responders.
"In these challenging times, it's more important than ever to stand together as a community and show our support for those who work tirelessly to keep us safe," Rand said after providing $1,000 to the Ellicott Police Department from its philanthropic community foundation.
"Our local police officers dedicate themselves to ensuring our safety, and they often go above and beyond the call of duty," the company said. "They're our everyday heroes, and we believe it's our duty to give back to those who protect us. With this donation, we aim to express our gratitude for their dedication and commitment to the community."
In Ellicott, the funds will go toward "various initiatives" within the department such as community outreach programs to enhance its resources and training.
"We're proud to contribute to the well-being of both our officers and our community," Rand said.
In March 2022, the company donated $8,500 from its foundation to the Jamestown Police Department toward the purchase of a new K-9. Prior to that, JPD provided a K-9 demonstration to Rand employees.
Just recently, Rand gifted Jamestown an additional $5,500 for the purchase of a breaching ram, drone and training ammunition. The donation was accepted by the Jamestown City Council.
Police Chief Timothy Jackson said the department's current breaching ram is small and inadequate.
"The new ram would allow the Jamestown Police Department to gain entry into buildings more quickly, which will likely lead to safer outcomes for officers," Jackson wrote in a resolution reviewed by the council.
JPD also plans to purchase another drone to be used for "clearing the interior of buildings, and once again, increase officer safety," the police chief said.
Funds also have been allocated to the Joseph P. Dwyer Peer Support Program and to fire departments in Gerry and Ellington.
Since 2020, the Rand Philanthropic Community Foundation has distributed $36,000 after raising money through in-house employee events and an annual golf tournament.
