Homeowners to Receive More ARPA Funds
Jamestown’s Department of Development will receive an increase in funding, for its American Rescue Plan Act Housing Repair Mini Grant.
The request encompassed an additional funding priority for $30,000 to be used to assist with repairs for locally owned homes in the city. As previously reported by The Post-Journal, the initial ARPA grant funding for home repairs was budgeted at $500,000.
This resolution carried the bulk of the City Council’s support and was positively received on both sides of the political spectrum.
“I’m pleased to see this on tonight’s agenda. This money should be given back to the taxpayers,” said Councilman Jeff Russell, R-At Large.
Also verbally supporting his resolution was Marie Carrubba, D-Ward 4 and Housing Committee chairwoman. After the additional $30,000 worth of funding, a grand total of $530,000 will have been spent on repairs and upgrades to more than 211 homes in Jamestown.
“These projects provided the seed money to improve neighborhoods and properties. Every improvement benefits the whole community,” Carrubba said.
