When walking by Rincon Colombiano it may be easier to decide what to order as pictures of some of the dishes are on display in the cafe’s window.

The small cafe at 111 E. Third St., Jamestown, held a ribbon cutting Friday celebrating its grand opening. Liliana Arranz and her team hopes to delight the community and tourists with Colombian food. Arranz said the cafe offers fruit, meat, poultry, and vegetarian meals.

New York state Assemblyman Andrew Goodell R-Jamestown, who was recently in Colombia attending a wedding, presented Arranz with a certificate on behalf of the state Assembly. After enjoying food on his trip, Goodell said with a laugh, it was very thoughtful of Arranz to open a Colombian cafe in Jamestown.

“Thanks for delighting our community and our tourists with delicious Colombian food,” Goodell said.

Chautauqua County Executive PJ Wendel said he welcomes the new cafe in downtown Jamestown.

“We have Mexican Restaurants but we don’t have a Colombian restaurant. This is a new foothold for us in Chautauqua County and in the city because experiencing different cultures and different foods is a great way to learn obviously about the culture, but about the people who prepare it (the food),” Wendel said.

The county executive added that Arranz’s business investment to the county and city is greatly appreciated.

City Councilman William Reynolds R-Ward V echoed Wendel as Reynolds thinks it great for the city to have another cultural restaurant.

“It’s really a diverse community. We hope all residents will support all restaurants (in the city). They are popping up all over, so great to have the diversity, to have the options, and opportunities to try different things. We should be grateful we live in a city that recognizes our cultural diversity,” Reynolds added.

Chris White of Jamestown said the fruit salad was very good and was going to tell his co-workers at Chautauqua Works, 4 E. Third St.

Arranz said the cafe is scheduled to be open six days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Starting at $3.50/week.
