Four City Residents Face Drug Charges

Steven R. Patterson and Jamie L. Bennett.

Four Jamestown residents face charges after two incidents Monday.

A search warrant was served by members of the Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force, Ellicott Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators, the Jamestown Police Department and county Sheriff’s Office K-9 units and the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s office at 252 S. Main St., Apt. 1, Jamestown, at 8:08 a.m. Monday resulting in charges against Steven R. Patterson, 52, of Jamestown, and Jamie L. Bennett, 39, of Jamestown.

Police report the search warrant came after a month-long investigation into sales of illegal drugs and untaxed cigarettes from the South Main Street address. A search of the apartment and vehicles allegedly uncovered fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, scales, cash and several cartons of cigarettes. Both Patterson and Bennett were charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia. They were taken to the city jail until they could be arraigned.

In an unrelated incident, Eric R. Vangiesen, 38, of Jamestown, and Lindsay R.T. Voye, 41, of Jamestown were charged after a vehicle and traffic stop at 1:44 a.m. Monday at Grant and East Seventh streets. Police report the department’s Violent Crime Unit pulled a vehicle over because it had no visible license plates. A search of the vehicle allegedly resulted in officers finding a large quantity of fentanyl and methamphetamine that was packaged for sale, while further investigation found the vehicle was allegedly stolen from Cleveland.

Vangiesen and Voye were each charged with two counts of third-degree felony criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and fourth-degree felony criminal possession of stolen property. Police report Voye allegedly gave officers a false name to keep officers from knowing she had active bench warrants from Jamestown City Court, so she was charged with second-degree criminal impersonation as well as traffic tickets for unlicensed operation and having an unregistered motor vehicle. Vangiesen and Voye were taken to the city jail until they could be arraigned.
