Fredonia Market Marking Rebrand With Biz Fair
FREDONIA — A popular Fredonia market has been rebranded and will celebrate next month with a gathering of fellow small businesses.
Tuscany Market & Deli on East Main Street changed its name and logo on Aug. 14. It was formerly Tuscany Fresh Meats and Deli.
On Monday morning, Tuscany announced “The Tuscany Lemon Drop: A Community Block Party!” It’s set for Saturday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tuscany.
“Pop-ups” from 18 local businesses are planned. One eye-catcher on the list: The White Inn. Closed for years now, the downtown Fredonia institution is currently getting renovated by new owners Steve St. George and Devin Jones.
Tuscany co-owner and co-founder George Civiletto announced the rebranding of his business in an Aug. 9 social media post.
He explained why the new logo contains a blossoming lemon. “When my grandfather — the first George Civiletto — immigrated to Fredonia from Sicily in the late 1800s, he brought with him a few small bags, and a lemon tree. That little sapling inspired the start of what has become a 100+ year old family business.”
Civiletto went on to discuss how his grandparents and parents opened a successful and still-operating nursery, and he and his wife, Wendy, ran the In A Nutshell gift shop next to it in the 1990s.
The current market opened on the site in 2004, and “nearly 20 years later, Tuscany continues to be an ever-evolving chapter of our family business, and it felt time for a refresh,” Civiletto stated.
