Sock Hop Set For Saturday
Sponsored by Pie Time Entertainment, the 1950s Sock Hop will be held this Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Village Casino on Lakeside Drive in Bemus Point.
A live disc jockey will be spinning the tunes throughout the evening, which will include a dance contest, costume contest, door prizes and more.
The owners of Pie Time Entertainment are Ann Smith and Mike Hudson. They will be running the show, and would like to thank Andrew and Amber Carlson the owners of the Village Casino for providing the venue for the event.
“We’re going to make this event an annual opportunity to have fun, and also support a worthy cause in the community,” Hudson said. “We love the idea of holding the sock hop right in Bemus Point, at the height of the summer season.”
Net proceeds from this first-time event will benefit Jamestown Meals on Wheels.
The Village Casino is offering food and drinks for purchase. There will be opportunities for winning gift baskets, donated for the event. A few classic 1950s cars are expected to be on display, as well.
Tickets are $25 per person, and can be purchased at PieTime.net. Pie Time Entertainment offers professional disc jockey services for weddings, private parties, and corporate events.

“We appreciate that Jamestown Meals on Wheels has been chosen to be the first beneficiary of funds from this event,” said Barrie Yochim, executive director for Meals on Wheels. “The money raised from this event will help Meals on Wheels get home-delivered meals in the hands of our community’s neediest individuals.”
Many individuals in Chautauqua County can’t pay for meal delivery, and the organization relies on donations like this to help pay for food delivery to area senior citizens, Yochim said.
Hudson said this event is the first which is expected to happen annually with a different style of dance and a different charity each year.
