Washington ‘Road Diet’ On Schedule

The conversion of Washington Street in Jamestown from four lanes to three remains on schedule after the road surface was recently milled and paved. When first announced, the project had an estimated price tag of about $4.2 million through use of federal funds. The highlight of the project is the redesign of the road that establishes a middle lane for left turns and new 5-foot bike lanes with 2-foot buffer areas along both sides. Crews are pictured Wednesday morning painting lines on Washington Street with the new lane configuration. P-J photo by Eric Tichy
