Dunkirk City, Handful Of Towns To Have June Primaries

There are no state or federal offices up for Chautauqua County residents. However, those enrolled in select political parties are asked to cast their vote in certain municipalities later this month.

The city of Dunkirk, along with the towns of Arkwright, Dunkirk, Mina, and Ripley all have primaries which are scheduled for June 27.

In the city of Dunkirk, enrolled Working Families Party members will vote for city council Ward I. Candidates running are Natalie Luczkowiak and Donald Williams Jr. Luczkowiak, the incumbent, has secured the Democratic line, while Williams has secured the Conservative line.

In Arkwright, enrolled Republican Party voters will select up to two members for town council. Candidates running include Polly Gambino, Christopher Cannon and Lynn Bedford. Gambino has also secured the Conservative line.

In the town of Dunkirk, enrolled Republican Party voters will select up to two members for town council. Candidates running include Jean Crane, Shari Miller and G. Jay Bishop. Bishop and Miller have also secured the Conservative line.

In the town of Mina, enrolled Republican Party voters will select up to two members for town council. Candidates running include Christine Craffey, Richard Cooper and Stephen Burmaster.

In the town of Ripley, enrolled Republican Party voters will select up to two members for town council. Candidates running include Philip Chimera, Calvin Janes and Jeffry Lyon. Chimera, an incumbent, and Janes have also secured the Democratic line. Chimera has also secured the Conservative line. Lyon has secured the Vote-4-Integrity line.

Also in Ripley, for highway superintendent, there are two candidates, James Spacht and Jason Jones, seeking the Republican and Conservatives lines. Spacht, the incumbent, has secured the Vote-4-Integrity line and Jones has secured the Democratic line.

According to the county Board of Elections website, early voting will take place June 17-25, at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds, 1089 Central Ave., Dunkirk. Hours are as follows: June 17-18, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; June 19-20, noon to 8 p.m.; June 21-23, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and June 24-25 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CATTARAUGUS

COUNTY

In the town of Dayton, there are four contests for enrolled Republican voters. For town supervisor, Aaron Huber, Jacqueline Mac Donald and Paul Luce are all seeking the Republican line. For town clerk, Rachelle Cook and Kelly Kuhaneck are both seeking the Republican line. For highway superintendent, Larry Miller and Brian Taber are both seeking the Republican line. For town council, there are two seats up with Donna Crisanti, Jake Hansen-Ivett, David Kohler and Thomas Chupa all seeking the Republican line.

There are also primaries in Farmersville, Machias, New Albion and Red House, as well as County Legislative District 5 (2024) which includes the towns of Hinsdale, Olean, Portville and City of Olean.

ERIE COUNTY

In the town of Evans, Raymond Ashton and Michael Masullo are both seeking the Conservative line for supervisor.

There are also primaries in the cities of Buffalo, Lackawanna, and Tonawanda; three primaries in the Erie County Legislature (Districts 4 and 10); and primaries in the towns of Amherst, Cheektowaga, Newstead, Alden, Grand Island, Marilla, Orchard Park, Tonawanda, Wales and West Seneca.

Statewide, primary voting on June 27 will take place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
