Clymer Town Board Discusses Project Updates

Clymer Town Board members discussed updates on multiple projects at their recent meeting. Projects include solar applications, sidewalks, the town park pavilion and the new municipal building.
Town Board members are also working on a grant to update the water system, which was built in 1967 and has never been updated.
The town received two solar applications from Andy Welch with IC Energy for a property owned by the Neckers family, and a second from Grif Jones with Clean Choice Energy for a property owned by the Fishers.
"Both applications are in process with engineering and legal," Town Supervisor Brian Willink said. "We are going to plan on moving forward with the Neckers property proposal with a public hearing at the July and August meetings. So, we're going to do it two times."
Willink said Andy Welch will plan on being at both meetings to present on what they are thinking and how they're progressing; members of the community will also be invited to attend.
"It's also the opportunity for anybody from the area to come and express their concerns or questions or whatever they may have," Willink said.
The town's sidewalk project is also moving forward to the bid stage. Willink said the plan is to take the project out for bid on July 11, have a pre-bid meeting with any interested contractors on July 19, with bids expected to be returned by Aug. 2, and the overall work to be completed by Halloween.
The proposed sidewalks will run for 1,300 feet from the front of Neckers Company General Store to the front of TeCroney Apartments on West Main Street, and another sidewalk at the south end of Mohawk Street.
The third project update was given on the pavilion in the town park.
"Last month Scott (Trisket, highway superintendent) gave us an update on basically the condition of the pavilion down there before we started pouring any concrete underneath," Willink said. "He started looking a little closer and discovered the pavilion wasn't in as good of a shape as what we thought, so we opened it up to some people to see if they would be interested."
Three interested parties submitted bids to the board. The board voted and decided to go with the bid from DT Hostetler Construction LLC. The company will tear down the existing pavilion and build a new one in July, and the town will handle pouring the concrete underneath as a separate bid afterwards.
There was no update on the plans for the new municipal building that is set to be placed in the town park.
