The United States Space Force was established when the National Authorization Act was signed into Law on Dec. 20, 2019. It has been 73 years before the newest branch, the Space Force, was formed because of the growing threat posed by near peer competitors in space.
It became clear there was a need for a military service focused solely on pursuing a super-priority in the space domain. The nation has had satellites orbiting our Earth for more than 60 years -- most were essential and critical for monitoring weather patterns, carrying television broadcasts, and the timing and navigation services of our GPS systems. They also serve in our global Banking Systems, which enable International Commerce not to mention our cell phone service and optimize critical Infrastructure.
Space is no longer free from conflict. Potential adversaries are seeking ways to deny the United States access to space capabilities fundamental to our way of war and modern way of life. The guardians of our Space Force have been called to protect and defend America's interest and to ensure our forces, allies and the world never experience a day without space availability.
The Space Force's primary mission is to monitor anything that is in the space domain. The job as a member of the Space Force is a 24-7 job, which is to design, acquire, field test operate and defend critical space systems.
The Space Force recently graduated its very first full flight of newly commissioned officers at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala. After extensive training the very first class of Space Force Officers were given orders to Military Bases around the world to continue their military training in the Space Force.
