Wildwood Acres Campground Being Sold
A Bemus Point area campground is going to be under new ownership.
During a meeting of the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency, board members approved giving a $100,000 loan to BP Endeavors LLC to purchase Wildwood Acres Campground.
The campground is located at 5006 Brown Road in the town of Ellery.
According to Carol Rasmussen with the county IDA, the current owner has run the campground for 21 years, consecutively, except during COVID, when it was shut down.
Tom Peterson and Steve Bogart with BP Endeavors of Warren, Pa., are interested in buying it. Rasmussen said they are engineers with a background in rental experience.
The campground has cabins, tent sites and RV sites, along with swimming pools and catch-and-release fishing ponds. Rasmussen said there’s also 20 acres of harvestable timber on the property.
“This is really the only campground around Bemus Point,” she said.
According to Rasmussen, the new owners plan to live there during the summer and have other family members who will be involved in managing the property.
Rasmussen said the property has been assessed at $780,000. The total sale price is $668,000.
Mark Geise, county IDA director and chief executive officer, said since the Al Tech loan was de-federalized, it can be used for tourism.
“Tourism as economic development is very important,” he said. “We know that tourism has done very well here and is continuing to do well here. It is incumbent upon us to support these type of projects.”
The IDA Board of Directors unanimously approved the loan.
