Jamestown's 75th annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place today at 11 a.m. at the upper part of Allen Park.
"I am so excited that we are holding a historic event, our 75th Annual Easter Egg Hunt, at one of our greatest parks," Dan Stone, Parks manager, said. "I would like to thank all of our event sponsors and volunteers; without them, we would not be able to put on this great event."
The Easter Egg Hunt will have three age groups for this year's event. The egg hunt for children ages four and under will take place in the area by the big pavilion and the kitchen, the egg hunt for children ages five through eight will take place by the basketball court, and the egg hunt for children ages nine through 12 will take place by the park's little pavilion.
The event will feature a special appearance by the Easter Bunny, who will ride on a fire engine from the Jamestown Fire Department. Whiffy the Tarp Skunk will also make a special appearance at the event. This year's Easter Egg Hunt will include more than 3,000 eggs filled with toys and candy for children in the Jamestown community to enjoy.
This year's sponsors include Pro Hardware, Allen Park Woman's Club, Darlene Friend, Frewsburg Soccer Club, Scott Stone and his crew, the Jamestown Police Department, the Police Benevolent Association, the Jamestown Fire Department, the Children's Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County and private donors. The SCEA, JCAA, JURA and AFSCME Local 418 city unions also are sponsors of this year's annual Easter Egg Hunt.
"I would like to thank the Parks Department, the Allen Park Women's Club, Pro Hardware, Frewsburg Soccer Club, the Children's Advocacy Program and our City Unions and employees for their wonderful contributions of candy and prizes to make one of our great Jamestown traditions, the 75th Annual Easter Egg Hunt, possible," Sundquist said. "I look forward to seeing all the families out there on Saturday."
