Numerous squeals of delight will be heard on Saturday, April 8, as area children search for and capture 1,800 eggs filled with toys and sweet treats during an Easter Egg Hunt being held at Christ First United Methodist Church in Jamestown.

Children of all ages are welcome to participate in the egg hunt, which begins at 11 a. m. Children age 2 and under will be given a one-minute head start so that all have an opportunity to find hidden eggs. Parents are encouraged to bring cell phones and cameras for photos.

In addition, eggs will also be hidden along a sidewalk for participants using wheelchairs.

How long does it take to fill 1,800 eggs with toys, bracelets, fidgets, and candy?

“Hours and hours and hours, but it’s worth it,” according to Kenzie Mason and Danica Olson, Co-Directors of Children and Youth Ministries at Christ First Church, and coordinators of the event.

Some of the eggs are marked with numbers that will result in prizes, including chocolate bunnies and eggs, and some Easter-themed toys.

An open house will be held inside the church during and after the egg hunt, with coffee for adults, light refreshments, and information about children’s programs and activities, including a Youth Group, Children’s Choir, a Liturgical Dance troupe, and Sunday school.

In case of bad weather, the egg hunt will be held in Darrah Hall inside the church.

Christ First United Methodist Church is located at 663 Lakeview Avenue; the egg hunt will be held in the church’s side yard which faces Buffalo Street. Access to the church parking lot from Buffalo Street. For more information, call 716-664-5803.

Starting at $3.50/week.
