Frewsburg Man Charged In Reported Road Rage Incidents

FREWSBURG — A 23-year-old Frewsburg resident is facing a host of charges stemming from two reported road rage incidents late last year.

Michael Ostrom is scheduled to appear in Carroll Town Court at a later date, the Carroll Police Department noted Monday in a news release.

The first incident reportedly occurred at about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 24 on Warren Road when a driver told police that Ostrom allegedly drove up behind them at an unsafe speed and began flashing his headlights, blinding the driver. After making a turn, Ostrom “passed the complainant’s vehicle and stopped abruptly,” Carroll police said. “Ostrom then exited his vehicle and began yelling obscenities.”

Ostrom also reportedly made threats to harm the driver.

Carroll police said young children were inside the victim’s vehicle at the time of the alleged road rage incident.

At about 1:30 p.m. Dec. 27, another driver reported that they passed Ostrom’s stopped vehicle on Bunce Road at Oak Hill. After making the turn on to Oak Hill Road, Ostrom reportedly drove up behind the driver and passed them in a no passing zone.

“After passing the complainant’s vehicle, Ostrom allegedly cut back over to the right, causing the complainant to brake abruptly to avoid striking Ostrom’s vehicle,” the police department said. “Ostrom came to a stop and exited his vehicle. Ostrom approached the complainant’s vehicle and began yelling and threatening the complainant.”

Ostrom eventually drove away.

As was the case on Dec. 24, Carroll police said there were young children in the vehicle at the time of the second incident.

Ostrom is facing charges from Dec. 24 of second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree harassment, reckless driving, unsafe starting, failure to dim headlights and no stopping/standing/parking on highway.

For the Dec. 27, incident, he faces charges of second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree harassment, reckless driving, unsafe starting and no stopping/standing/parking on highway.
