FINDLEY LAKE — Even the Grinch loves Christmas Through the Village in Findley Lake.

The famous green meanie has decided to make an appearance at the village’s annual event, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Since he is the Grinch, and not known for his socialbility, he plans to stay in one place, hanging out at the newly-opened Sharp Boutique.

Of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be walking the village as well throughout the event. And visitors are encouraged to take a photo opportunity as they warm themselves by a fire pit in front of the Vintage Christmas Tree Truck on Main Street.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take a free horse-drawn wagon ride from noon to 4 p.m. each day, courtesy of the Laff’n Lyon Ranch. Shoppers can also enter to win a grand prize of a gift certificate from each of the eight participating shops and restaurants, or a second prize of a weekend stay at Fairway Suites.

All that is required for entry is that a shopper have a card punched at a minimum of five shops or restaurants in the village. Patrons can pick up their card at the first store they visit and leave it at the last place they go.

Visitors to Christmas Through the Village in Findley Lake this weekend can warm up beside the Vintage Christmas Tree Truck where a fire pit will be placed.

Nancy Sonney, Secret Cubby of Antique’s owner, organizes the event and said the town itself draws people in.

“It’s the quaintness of the town and the lake,” she said. “People see us decorating, there is an atmosphere of welcome at the door and someone always says, ‘Thank you’ as you leave.”
