Rollover Crash Leads To Felony DWI Charge
WESTFIELD — A Jamestown man is facing felony drunken driving charges following a rollover crash Friday in Westfield.
No injuries were reported in the collision, which occurred near 155 Academy St. Members of the Westfield Fire Department and Westfield Police Department were alerted to the crash around 5 p.m.
According to a message posted by the fire department, a vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed when it struck a bridge and overturned.
In a news release Monday, the Westfield Police Department said the vehicle was being operated by 40-year-old Allen L. Woodworth, who appeared at the scene to be impaired by alcohol following field sobriety tests.
Woodworth was charged with driving while intoxicated, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operator, unlicensed operator, speed not prudent and failure to keep right.
A check found that Woodworth’s license was suspended due to a previous DWI; due to the conviction within the past 10 years, the DWI charge was upgraded to a felony.
