Cherry Creek Community Meets To Restructure

CHERRY CREEK — The Cherry Creek Community Association Inc. held a meeting recently for the purpose of gaining some new members and restructuring the slate of officers.

“The original members of the association and the officers have served since the group’s inception, and we all thought it’s time for some new people and some new ideas,” said Brenda Hendricks of the association. “Time to allow the younger generation to take the reins.”

First on the agenda was the nomination and the election of officers. The outcome of the process is as follows: president, Debbie Bernard; vice president, Tami Reynolds; secretary, Alissa Pekrul; co-treasures, Ashley Moffitt and Brenda Harvey; and auditors, Sally Harris and Melissa LaVoy.

As her first action as president, Bernard handed out “thank you” certificates from the Town Board and Sharon Sweeting to the retiring members in appreciation of their years of service and dedication to the community and events. Retiring members are Nancy Hall, Linda Powell, Peggy VanWormer, Ray and Margaret Sheldon and Bruce and Benda Hendricks.

The committee to write the grant for the new season of Gazebo Concerts was selected, and is as follows: Brenda Hendricks, Linda Powell, Peggy VanWormer, Ashley Moffitt, Alyssa Pekrul and Terri Smith.

Tami Reynolds and Alyssa Pekrul will take charge of the Association’s advertising needs.

The Christmas Lighting will be handled by Dustin Sheldon and Dan Colburn, with instructions that the lighting should be finished by Dec. 1, or before the Tree Lighting and the Memorial Bow ceremony. Kateri Davis, Brenda Henricks, Tami Reynolds, Christi Reinard and Barb Smith were selected to be responsible for the Memorial Bow Ceremony which is usually held the first weekend of December.

Many possibilities were discussed for the Independence Celebration, and will be ascertained as the time progresses.

The association plans to meet monthly. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the Farrington Hollow Event Barn, Driveway B, at 6:30 p.m.
