Bright Idea: Fredonia Fire Department Joins Toys For Tots Push
FREDONIA — Toys for Tots has a new collection site at the Fredonia Fire Department.
The station on Main Street is accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for the holiday gift-giving program. Donations started Monday and will be taken until Dec. 16. People who want to donate items should go to the station any time between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and get firefighters’ attention by ringing the doorbell next to the Main Street entrance.
Fredonia Fire Chief Joshua Myers said the fire department agreed to become a drop off point after it was discussed during a recent open house. The firefighters worked with Chautauqua County Toys for Tots volunteer Lauren Boyle to set up the drop off point.
Myers suggested that people donate toys appropriate for the age group of 12 and up, noting it is a point of emphasis for Toys for Tots this holiday season. “It seems every year that’s the least amount collected,” he said.
