Silver Creek Sells Reservoir For $515,000
SILVER CREEK — After many years, the village of Silver Creek has sold its reservoir.
Analyzing real estate sales in Chautauqua County, The Post-Journal/OBSERVER learned that the village of Silver Creek sold property on Route 39 and Hopper Road, Hanover to SCR Management LLC of Angola for $515,000.
According to village minutes from Aug. 16, 2021, a motion made to accept the offer of William P. McFadden for the purchase of the reservoir located on Route 39 and Hopper Road in the amount of $515,000. The motion was unanimously carried.
The sale was finalized on May 2 at 10:34 a.m.
Mayor Jeffrey Hornburg said in a phone interview the village has owned the reservoir for decades but hasn’t used it since they started getting water from the Erie County Water Authority about 20 years ago.
“It (the sale) was something we’ve attempted to do for quite some time,” he said.
Hornburg said they were glad they were able to sell it. “We finally found someone interested in it for the price we were asking for it,” he said, adding that the sale relieves the village from maintaining it.
He declined to say what the property will be used for. “I have an idea what he’s going to use it for, but I’m not privy to his final decision. I’d rather say nothing than say something wrong,” he said.
